Missions

We go on mission trips because Jesus says: “Go!”

Bay City has always been committed to serving and giving, not only in Hawke's Bay, but also in other places around the world. Jesus says in Mark 16:15-16, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”

We invite you to be a part of what God is doing through Bay City around the world by joining one of our short-term missions teams.

IF YOU FEEL THE CALL TO BE PART OF THE LIFE-CHANGING MOVE OF GOD HAPPENING AROUND THE GLOBE, WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO BOLDLY SAY YES. TO SECURE YOUR SPOT ON A SPECIFIC TRIP. SUPPORTING A SHORT-TERM MISSIONARY ISN’T JUST ABOUT PROVIDING FUNDS; IT’S A DECISION TO BE A PART OF THE TEAM WHO GOD IS BUILDING THROUGH PRAYER, ENCOURAGEMENT, AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT. WHEN MAKING YOUR DEPOSIT, OR MAKING A DONATION TO A SHORT-TERM MISSIONARY, PLEASE SELECT THE LOCATION OF THE TRIP.

Vanuatu

Vanuatu is a gorgeous nation located in the Pacific Ocean only three hours by plane Northwest of New Zealand. There is little or no electricity in most villages and the lifestyle is simple. Many people in Vanuatu have been raised with Christian beliefs, however although they know about Jesus in their mind, they do not know Him in their heart. An outreach in this country will give your team a great opportunity to assist churches in discipling the local people, and you will be able to build strong relationships by spending time each day in the same village for the duration of your mission trip.

Water is a much-needed commodity in Vanuatu, so your outreach will include building a large concrete water tank in a village. Through this, your team can not only meet the practical need of a whole community, but also share God’s love through action. You will also get the opportunity to spend time with village children, providing teaching, activities and games on a daily basis. Evangelistic tools such as dramas, music, art and sports are a great way of meeting the local people. Basic health care may also form a part of your outreach.

Uganda

Buyamba welcomes all teams who are interested in serving on a short-term missions visit to God Cares Primary and Secondary Schools. You can take the next step of involvement in this ministry by joining us to serve the orphans and needy children at God Cares in Kampala, Uganda.

As short-term missionaries, there are many opportunities to serve God and the local church. These include teaching Bible lessons to the children, building and delivering beds for families in need, visiting the local orphanage, and evangelizing in high schools.

Through short-term mission teams and internships, HEAL continues to increase the awareness of the plight of abandoned women and children in Uganda. We believe that changing the world is done one heart at a time-and that process begins with your heart and mine. Our prayer is that a heart to serve abandoned women and children also becomes a generational calling in your family.

China

Volunteer on short-term mission trips to provide orphans with love, hope, a sense of worth, and long-term advocacy.

China is a nation that has changed enormously over the last 30 years, both politically and economically. In that time it has embraced trade with the rest of the world and greatly opened to relationship with other nations. These vast changes have created a curiosity in the Chinese people and a special openness to truth. As a result millions of Chinese people have received Jesus Christ as their Lord and millions more remain hungry to hear the gospel and see the good and holy lives of those who love Jesus. One of the most exciting ways we have found of sharing the gospel is by working as an English teacher. We are looking for Christians who want to experience the adventure of living in China, the challenge of helping students to learn the English language, the joy of making Chinese friends and the blessing of allowing others to see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

India

India is a beautiful but broken place. Nearly 265 million people live on less than $1.90 per day, left powerless in poverty. Nearly one in four Indians cannot read or write, hindering day-to-day activities. When they face life’s greatest challenges, millions of Indians are left hopeless and in desperate need of the Savior. More than those in any other nation, the helpless poor of India stand in need of the hope and life that Christ offers.

Our vision is to see India transformed by the love of Christ. You can help us get there. Why India? Because God loves this nation. And He has called us to bring His light to spiritually dark places. Though 400 million people in India have never heard the name of Jesus, hearts are open to the Good News like never before! Keep scrolling to see how you can join us in this journey of spreading hope.

Pakistan

Pakistan's rich cultural and religious heritage has resulted in an ethnically and linguistically diverse population. However, uncontrolled population growth and large-scale natural disasters have left the nation in poverty.
Churches operate openly but evangelizing to convert someone to Christianity is considered illegal. As beautiful as God made the surrounding lands, people face everyday challenges and hardships. Only 1 in every 3 adults are employed leaving a 67% unemployment rate. Half of the children here fall victim to physical abuse. With the terrain being rough and dry, only 10% of it is usable to farm and water is also scarce here.
The refugee crisis in Pakistan has made politics, the economy and resources a challenge. This means that these refugees depend on humanitarian aid from other countries. Since the refugee crisis has occurred the cost of education has increased. As many of the families can not support the cost of education Bay City support helps bridge the gap. As short-term missionaries, teams will deliver food and supplies to refugees and serve at youth camps. In addition to providing the resources needed, we will also bring God’s word to those who need it most and those who haven’t yet met Jesus.
